Active Threat Training Continues for Faculty and Staff
To prepare Clover Park Technical College staff and faculty to recognize and respond to the threat of an active shooter on campus, active threat training will be offered on Dec. 10 and 11.
Six 75-minute training sessions will be offered over two days, led by Lt. John Unfred of the Lakewood Police Department and CPTC’s Director of Security and Compliance, Lisa Beach.
Prior to this week, seven training opportunities have been offered to staff and faculty this academic year. To stay vigilant, Beach is planning additional training opportunities.
Higher education institutions are placing more of an emphasis on moving from an older “lockdown/safe room” model toward a doctrine of “Run, Hide, Fight,” in response to an active threat.
