HUC Instructor Awarded Tenure at December Board of Trustees Meeting
December’s Clover Park Technical College Board of Trustees meeting concluded last week with a special announcement, as the Board awarded tenure to Health Unit Coordinator instructor Joylene Perez.
Perez’s CPTC experience began in September 2007 when she enrolled as a student in the Health Unit Coordinator program. She developed and utilized her mentorship skills as a student in the program, organizing study groups and off-campus homework assignments to help ensure her fellow students passed the course.
Upon graduation in 2008, Perez was immediately hired at St. Clare Hospital. She was appointed to the Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation and Thank You (AIDET) committee that is used throughout CHI Franciscan. She started working as a substitute instructor at CPTC before transitioning into a full-time HUC instructor role in 2015.
“Sharing knowledge and assisting, in any possible way, has always been a passion of mine,” Perez said. “I am honored to be sharing my personal experience, knowledge and education with every student I encounter.”
The tenure process includes quarterly teaching observations, regular course evaluations, self-assessments and professional development over the course of three years.
